zazomboid.com: live server status, leaderboards, the map and your survivor
zazomboid.com is ZA-Z's own website, built from the live server and its save files. It shows whether the server is up right now, the in-game day, who leads the leaderboards, a map of Knox Country with loot and zombie density, the server's newspaper, and, once you sign in with your game account, your own survivor, safehouse contents, hotbar order and tattoos. Nothing about you goes public unless you switch it on, and nobody's position or base is ever shown.
#What does the home page show?
The live status page asks the game server directly every minute and shows ON AIR, RESTARTING or OFFLINE. Under it:
- Zombies put down, all survivors together.
- The in-game day and date, then the power breaker (GRID LIVE or GRID DOWN) and the water tap (WATER ON or WATER OFF); hover either to see its schedule.
- The graveyard (deaths, and how many were survivor on survivor), survivors alive and active this week, and the count of safehouses and factions.
Stats refresh every two hours from the live save; the status light and who is online are live. The day number is also in the server's name in the in-game browser.
#The radio ticker
The strip under the menu on every page scrolls what the in-game emergency broadcast (AEBS) is saying, stamped with the in-game date and hour. It follows the same two-hour refresh, so it can run up to two hours behind the radio in your game.
#Leaderboard: how do I show my name?
The leaderboard has three tabs:
- Survivors: ranked by real hours played, with hours survived, kills, deaths, PvP kills and last seen, 20 to a page, medals for the top three.
- Factions: each faction's members added up. Survived time and hours played are averages per member; member names never show.
- KY-60: the highway board, explained on KY-60 highway.
Everyone starts anonymous: you appear as "Survivor #12" (your rank), and your kills still count in the totals. To show your name, sign in at zazomboid.com/me, open Settings and switch on Show my name on the leaderboard. Two more switches need that one first: Show off my inventory (your carried items on your public profile) and Show my safehouse town (town and expiry only, never coordinates).
#The Knox Country map
The map covers the whole of Knox Country with four layers you can switch on and off:
| Layer | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Where survivors roam | Where people have been, from the logs |
| Where survivors die | Deaths, PvP or not |
| Loot density | Where loot sits in ground survivors have visited, relative to the rest of the map |
| Zombie density | Where the dead are, read from the save |
Every layer is drawn in 64-tile squares, and every square within 48 tiles of any safehouse is left blank, so the map never gives a base away. A square needs at least 3 zombies to show on the zombie layer, and ground near survivors who are online right now is held back. There are no live player positions, ever. Signed in, you also see your own safehouse zone, and only yours.
#Rebel News
Rebel News is the server's own newspaper, written from the server logs: raids, deaths, records and odd sightings, with pictures and the occasional tape. Nobody is named; survivors get nicknames. Issue 1 came out on 25 September 2026, issue 2 (the secret base raid) on 27 September, and back issues sit at the foot of the paper. Got a story? Shout it in global chat.
#Gallery, obituaries, towns and the armoury
- Gallery: portraits of survivors holding out in Knox Country.
- Obituaries: every death on the server and whether another survivor did it.
- Towns: where survivors were last seen, how active each town is this week, and the factions that hold them. Only the nearest town is shown.
- Armoury: every Build 42 weapon with damage, range, swings to kill and the best pick per skill.
#Mods and how to join
Mods lists every Workshop item the server runs, what each one adds and the total download; the wiki's Mods page covers the same list. Join has the server address, world settings and rules.
#My survivor: what can I do after signing in?
Sign in at zazomboid.com/me with your ZA-Z server account, the same name and password you use to join the server. The password is checked against the server's own account table and never stored by the site. You can also sign in through Steam.
| Tab | What it does |
|---|---|
| Character | Skills, traits, kills and inventory for every account you play |
| Safehouse | Everything stored in your safehouse: guns, ammo per calibre, skill books, magazines, tapes, food freshness, generators. Only you ever see this. Claiming one: Safehouses |
| Hotbar | Reorders your hotbar slots, which the game itself cannot do. You must be on the server; the new order loads on your next join |
| Tattoos | Pick designs from ZA-Z's Ink while your character is online; they go on at once. Tattoos are permanent. Or visit the Tattoos and the Tattoo Parlour in game |
| Settings | The three public switches above |
#What never goes public?
No coordinates, no live positions, no base locations, and no names or loot unless the player opted in. The privacy page covers the rest, including how to switch analytics off. For driving records see Vehicles and driving and KY-60 highway.
