The Survivor ZA memorial in Rosewood
In front of the Rosewood police station, on the paved island across from its doors, stands a memorial to Survivor ZA: the server where Project Zomboid in South Africa started. Many of us played our first South African games there, and ZA-Z would not exist without it. The memorial is a curved wall of black granite. Its raised centre panel carries Survivor ZA's own badge in a bronze ring and reads SURVIVOR ZA, TO THOSE WHO CAME BEFORE US.
#Where is the Survivor ZA memorial?
In Rosewood, on the island in the road in front of the police station, in the square brick-edged planter (around x 8092, y 11719). It is inside the Rosewood Safe Zone, so you can stop there without watching your back. Look for the dark curved wall between two lantern posts.
#What does it look like?
| Part | What you see |
|---|---|
| The wall | a polished black granite wall curving round the planter's back corner, open toward the road, with granite end posts and coping |
| The centre panel | the tallest part of the wall: the Survivor ZA badge in a bronze ring, and below it SURVIVOR ZA, TO THOSE WHO CAME BEFORE US in gold |
| The wings | rows of gold lines on both sides of the panel |
| The garden | stone paving inside the curve, flowerbeds at the foot of the wall, grass and two lantern posts in the planter's corners |
| The benches | two benches on the island paving facing the wall, one in front and one to the side |
The lanterns are street lamps: they come on at night while Rosewood has power, and go dark with the rest of the town in a blackout (see Power and Water).
#Can I move or break it?
No. The wall can't be picked up, moved or knocked down, and nothing can be built on its squares. You can walk onto the paving inside the curve from the road side. The benches are ordinary benches: sit on one and take a minute.
