Landmarks you can't claim as a safehouse on ZA-Z
Some of the biggest buildings in Knox County belong to everyone on ZA-Z: every Gigamart, every gun store, the big shooting range west of Echo Creek, the three malls, the hospitals, military camps and army tents, the prisons, and Louisville's airport, baseball stadium, arenas, university and museum. More than 110 buildings in all. Right-click inside one and Claim Safehouse is greyed out with "This building can't be claimed as a safehouse." If a claim gets through anyway, the server cancels it within a couple of seconds and tells you why. Loot them, fight over them, hole up in them for a night, but nobody gets to lock the rest of the server out.
#Which buildings can't be claimed?
| Landmark | Where |
|---|---|
| Gigamart (10) | Rosewood, Riverside, West Point, Brandenburg (inside the mall), Louisville (3, one inside the mall), the one outside Irvington, and two in Constown |
| Gun stores (about 20) | Every town that has one, plus the roadside gun shops and army surplus stores between towns. A building with a gun counter counts as a whole, even when the gun shop is one unit in a strip of shops or a pawn shop row |
| Echo Creek shooting range | The big range complex west of Echo Creek, on the way to Ekron: the main building with its firing lanes, gun store and laser tag, the workshop, the gun sheds and the army huts out back |
| Malls (3) | Louisville, Valley Station, Brandenburg |
| Hospitals (3) | The two Louisville hospitals and the big hospital south of Louisville |
| Military | Every army camp, checkpoint and army tent on the map, including the large camp south of Louisville |
| Prisons (2) | The Rosewood prison (with its infirmary and workshops) and the Brandenburg prison |
| Louisville landmarks | The airport terminal, the baseball stadium, the arena, the arena with the broadcast studio, the three university buildings and the museum |
#What can I still claim?
Everything else on the map works as before (see Safehouses): houses, shops, offices, warehouses, farms, and also police stations, fire stations and theatres. Those stay open to claiming on purpose.
#What about landmarks that were already claimed?
A landmark someone claimed before this rule came in keeps its claim. The 14-day rule still applies to it: once nobody from it has visited for 14 real days (336 hours), the claim runs out, and from then on the building can't be claimed again.
#Can I still use these buildings?
Yes, they are ordinary buildings for everyone. You can loot them, sleep in them and defend them. You cannot claim them, so their containers refill with the server's loot respawn like any unclaimed building (see Loot), and the safehouse sledgehammer rule means you cannot knock their walls down either.
