ZA-Z FM: live music on 100.0 MHz in Project Zomboid

Checked 19 October 2026 | 3 min read

ZA-Z FM is ZA-Z's own music station on 100.0 MHz. Tune any radio to 100.0 MHz, one you carry, one in your base or the radio in a car, and it plays the station around the clock: 170 songs on a loop, the same song at the same moment for everyone on the server. It comes with the ZA-Z's Tunes mod, which downloads when you join, so there is nothing to set up. The station is run by Zibby Zoons, a pirate DJ across the Ohio River who loves killing zombies almost as much as she loves a loud chorus.

Workshop page: ZA-Z's Tunes ships inside ZA-Z's Essentials on Steam. It needs The Real True Music, which also runs on ZA-Z.

#How do I listen to ZA-Z FM?

Find a radio: a handheld radio, a household radio, or any car with a radio.
Switch it on. It needs power like any radio: batteries in a portable, the grid or a generator for a household set, the car's battery for a car radio.
Tune it to 100.0 MHz. Static turns into music.
Set the volume on the radio. The game's own Music volume slider also applies.

#Can other people hear my radio?

Yes. A radio left on in a base, or playing in a parked car, is heard by anyone within about 14 tiles, louder the closer they stand. Everyone on the server hears the same song at the same second.

#How do I tune a car radio?

With The Real True Music, a car radio normally opens a cassette-deck stereo that cannot tune stations. ZA-Z's Tunes gives car radios the game's own radio window back, with the tuning dial and presets, so 100.0 MHz works in every car. Boomboxes and portable cassette players are not affected; they still play tapes.

If you would rather have the cassette stereo in cars, untick Classic car radio window under Options > Mods > ZA-Z's Tunes.

ZA-Z's Tunes also stops the car radio's power button from crashing the game when pressed twice, and lets you drag a tape straight from a container (a glovebox, a crate) into the car's tape deck.

#What does it play?

170 songs: rock, pop-punk, metal, hip hop, drum and bass and house. Papa Roach, Linkin Park, Green Day, Foo Fighters, Paramore, Slipknot, Eminem, Pendulum, Tracy Chapman and R.E.M. are all in there. Strictly speaking, most of them haven't been written yet in 1993. Nobody on the station will tell you how that works.

#Can I turn it off?

Untick Play ZA-Z FM through my radios under Options > Mods > ZA-Z's Tunes. It only changes what you hear: everyone else keeps the music, and your radios go back to plain static on 100.0 MHz.

#Who is Zibby Zoons?

Rebel News went across the river to meet her: Static's Dead. Zibby Killed It.

#Is it the same as the emergency broadcast?

No. The emergency channel is the AEBS Radio, with the weather and warnings, written fresh by the server every hour. ZA-Z FM is music. Keep one radio on each and you'll know when the storm is coming and have something to listen to while it does.
