The ZA-Z Camper: an RV with a room you can live in
The ZA-Z Camper is an RV: a step van rebuilt as a motorhome, a third longer than the delivery van, with a room in the back you can walk into, furnish and live in. There are only 30 of them on the server at any time. Find one, claim it like a safehouse, and your base goes wherever you drive.
#Where do I find a Camper?
Campers park where RVs would: mostly in trailer parks, now and then in a parking lot or out on a street. In a trailer park you see about three Campers for every five step vans; anywhere else, about one for every ten.
At launch, eight Campers were parked in three trailer parks: two south-west of Riverside and one north-west of Rosewood. First come, first served.
There are never more than 30. Once 30 Campers exist, any new one the world tries to spawn turns up as a plain step van instead. When a Camper is destroyed, its place opens up for the next one somewhere on unexplored ground.
#Which paint jobs are there?
Each Camper comes in one of four paint jobs, and each has its own interior to match:
| Paint job | Inside |
|---|---|
| 70s Sundowner | orange panelling |
| White Horizon RV | cream |
| Survivor build, boarded windows | scrap steel and planks |
| Olive EXP-07 expedition van | dark wood |
#How do I claim a Camper?
Walk to the rear doors, right-click and pick Claim this Camper. It is now yours, like a safehouse.
- One each. You can hold one Camper at a time, counting every account you play on.
- Your crew: right-click the rear doors, Members, then Add member... and type their username.
- Only you and your members can go in the back or drive it. Anyone else who sits in the driver's seat gets put out of it.
- Nobody goes in an unclaimed Camper. Claim it first.
#How do I get inside?
- On foot: park, walk to the rear doors, right-click and pick Enter the Camper.
- From a seat: open the vehicle menu (V) and pick Into the Back.
The Camper has to stand still to go in. Leaving works any time: right-click anywhere inside and pick Leave the Camper, and you step out at the rear doors, wherever the Camper is now. If the doors are blocked (a wall, water, someone else's safehouse) you land on the nearest clear spot instead.
#What is inside?
A bare room 6 tiles by 4, with a light on the wall. Kit it out with furniture, storage and anything you can build, the same as a house. Every Camper has its own room, and whatever you leave in it stays there while you drive.
Power: the light works while the Camper's battery has charge. Keep a good battery in it, and charge it the usual way.
#How do I keep my Camper?
Use it. If nobody from the claim goes in or rides along for 14 real days, the claim lapses and anyone can claim the Camper, room and everything in it. Same clock as a safehouse.
If you give up the claim, or claim another Camper, the old one stays exactly as it is, room and contents included, and anyone can claim it.
#How does it drive?
Like a heavy step van. It has two seats up front, the step van's cargo space (160) and loot in the back, and a tow hitch like the step van's. It is a third longer than a delivery van, so give it room in a parking lot.
For speed, map loading and hitching tips, see Vehicles and driving.
#Camper or Mobile Base?
The Camper is the small base: one van, one driver, easy to park. The Mobile Base is the big one: a container trailer behind a W900 semi with four gun ports, a 500 cargo hold, a generator and a car on its back, and only five of them exist, placed by the admins. Both rooms work the same way.
