Yakuza gear on ZA-Z: the black kimono, the oni gas mask and the kitsune mask

Checked | 3 min read

ZA-Z's Gear and Clothing has a yakuza set: a Black Kimono you can wear closed or open to the waist, an Oni Mask that is a working gas mask under a lacquered demon face, and a Kitsune Mask (fox mask) in white or black. All of them are ordinary world loot. They pair with the yakuza tattoos from the Tattoos and the Tattoo Parlour: open the kimono and your chest piece shows.

#Where do I find a kimono or a yakuza mask?

They spawn in the world like any other clothing, no trader or admin needed. Each chance below is per loot roll of that container.

ItemWhere to lookHow common
Black KimonoMost wardrobes, classy dressers, university wardrobes1 in 100 per roll, half as often as a bathrobe
Black KimonoPlain dressers, clothing racks, clothes crates, wardrobes in rundown homes1 in 2,000 per roll
Black KimonoCostume crates1 in 200 per roll
Kitsune Mask (white or black)Wherever Halloween masks turn up: gift and toy shops, holiday decorations, costume crates, comic store countersEach colour half as often as one Halloween mask (gift shop toys: 1 in 200 per roll)
Kitsune Mask (white or black)Wardrobes, dressers, clothing racks and clothes crates1 in 2,000 per roll for each colour
Oni MaskWherever gas masks are found: army surplus headwear, army bunker lockers and storage, army bedroom lockers, survivors' armour stashesA quarter as often as a gas mask (army surplus headwear: 1 in 100 per roll)

Containers that were already opened before the set arrived keep what they had; they get a fresh chance at the next loot respawn. An oni mask comes out of the loot with a filter in it, partly used, just like a gas mask.

#The Black Kimono

Black silk, wide sleeves, a charcoal obi at the hips and the white under-collar showing at the neck. Some come plain, some carry three white crests (one on the back, two on the chest), the way a formal black kimono does.

  • Closed or open: right-click it and choose Open Kimono or Close Kimono. Open, the front falls apart down to the obi and shows a crimson lining. From the floor or a bag, Wear > Wear Closed or Wear > Wear Open puts it straight on the way you want.
  • What goes under it: it is a robe, so shirts, T-shirts, tank tops and trousers fit underneath. Jackets, sweaters, hoodies and vests do not go over it.
  • Warmth: about as warm as a light robe (insulation 0.35 closed, 0.25 open). It is for looking good, not for winter.

#The Oni Mask (a real gas mask)

A black hannya face with gold eyes, ivory fangs and two horns, built over a gas mask with a filter on each cheek. It works exactly like the normal gas mask:

  • It protects you from corpse sickness and toxic air while a filter is in and has charge left, and it uses the filter up the same way.
  • The usual recipes work on it: Remove Gas Mask Filter and Attach Filter to Gas Mask, with the same gas mask filters, crafted filters included.
  • Without a filter the cheek canisters come off the mask, so you can tell at a glance.
  • Same protection as the gas mask (bite 30, scratch 50), and like any gas mask it narrows what you can see.

#The Kitsune Mask

A lacquered fox face with a long snout, pointed ears, red markings and a red cord with two small bells at the temple. It comes in white (red markings) and black (red and gold). It sits in the mask slot, so it does not go with glasses, another mask or a full helmet, but a hat goes on top. It turns away a light scratch (scratch 10) and stays on better than a party mask.
