ZA-Z update, 22 October 2026: no fire in Rosewood, cars stop at other people's safehouses, Louisville on its own substation

Released | 2 min read

A ZA-Z's Essentials update went live in the early hours of 22 October 2026, and it downloads by itself the next time you join. Rosewood is now fireproof, cars brake before they can drive into someone else's safehouse, and Louisville runs on its own substation. Two South African medicines join the Beta Blockers, and a smoke now keeps you calm for as long as you stay high.

#No fire in Rosewood

Inside the Rosewood fence a fire goes out the moment it starts: a thrown Molotov, a flame trap, an explosion, a burning zombie or a blaze creeping up from outside. Campfires, fireplaces, stoves, ovens and barbecues work as normal. Outside Rosewood, fire spreads as it always has. See no fire in Rosewood.

#Cars stop at other people's safehouses

Drive toward a safehouse you do not belong to and the car brakes to a stop before the edge, with a "Private safehouse ahead" note. Back up or steer away and you are free to go. The faster you are going, the earlier it brakes, and if any passenger may not enter, the car stops. Members drive in and out of their own base as before. See safehouses in vehicles.

#Louisville runs on its own substation

Louisville is now lit only while its own substation, in the north-west corner of the city, runs. The Louisville East substation powers everything south of the city, from Valley Station down to West Point. See which towns can have power.

#South African medicine

Grandpa's Headache Powder and Med-Lemon turn up wherever Beta Blockers do, a quarter as often, and calm you down exactly like a Beta Blocker. See South African medicine.

#A calmer smoke

Every smoke from the Smoker's Pack now also works like the pharmacy's beta blockers and antidepressants, for as long as you stay high: panic builds slower, and panic and unhappiness keep draining. The higher you are, the faster they drain. See long-acting calm.

#Akimbo: two pistols at once

Wear the Double Holster or the Twin Shoulder Holster with two pistols of the same model, press either one's hotbar key, and both hands draw together. Each click fires the next gun, right then left, one round each; the reload key reloads both. M9, M1911, Desert Eagle and Glock 17 pair up. See Akimbo.

#Fixes

  • Road Train: shoving a car with the truck now works in multiplayer.
  • A bike set back on its wheels stays up when you get on.
  • Guns with many rounds loaded sync with less lag.
