ZA-Z update, 26 September 2026: Workshop mods go live on the ZA-Z server

Released | 1 min read

At about 19:00 SAST on 26 September 2026, Day 96 in game, ZA-Z stopped being pure vanilla. The mods vote on zazomboid.com was due to run until 1 October, but rather than wait, every mod on the ballot went live except one, Ladders. Joining now downloads the mods through Steam by itself, and that evening the server took the name it still carries: ZA-Z | zazomboid.com | Vanilla+ | Day N.

#What went live?

#Where do the new things spawn?

Vehicles and most loot roll the first time a patch of map loads, so ground nobody had explored before 26 September is where the modded cars, guns and food turn up. Places already opened pick up new loot only at a loot respawn; see Loot.

#How were the mods chosen?

Players voted on a shortlist on the website from 20 September. The mods are used exactly as their authors publish them, and the list has grown since: the full, current one is on Mods. That same night, down in the secret military base, a raid crew opened the camp door at the bottom: The secret base raid.
