The Real True Music puts real songs on 101 cassettes around ZA-Z: AC/DC, Nirvana, Bob Marley, Metallica, Queen, Green Day and more. Play them on a portable cassette player with headphones, a boombox you set down for everyone nearby, or the tape deck in your car. It is the biggest download on the server at about 531 MB, because the music is real.
#What it adds
- 101 cassettes, one song each. AC/DC has 22 tapes, Nirvana 10, Bob Marley 10, Sum 41 7, Green Day and Jonivan Jones 6 each, Metallica and Queen 5 each, with 2Pac, DMX, Ozzy Osbourne, Rammstein, Marilyn Manson, System of a Down, The Offspring, The Stranglers and others filling the rest.
- Portable Cassette Player: needs a battery and headphones or earbuds. It has previous, next, shuffle (no repeats until every tape has played) and auto-next.
- Boombox: runs on a battery and plays out loud, so the whole room hears it, zombies included.
- Car tape decks: the car radio gets cassette controls. Eject a CD before you insert a tape.

Car glove boxes hold them too. About 1 zombie in 200 carries a tape, rising to 1 in 40 for punks, rockers, guitar players and students. Portable players turn up in the same places, a third of them with a battery and a quarter with headphones. Boomboxes are most common in music and electronics stores, rarer in homes, bars and classrooms; some sit out on a counter or shelf, and now and then one rides in the back of a station wagon, van or step van.
Containers only hold tapes if they were first filled after the mods went live on 26 September 2026, so a fresh town is a better music shop than an old one. Zombies are different: their pockets are filled when they die, so any zombie you drop, anywhere, can be carrying one.
#Tips
- Carry spare batteries: the portable player drains them and warns you when they run low.
- A boombox, and a tape playing in a car, make noise the zombies can hear. Great for a base party, bad for sneaking. Headphones on the portable player keep it to yourself.
- Each tape weighs 0.05: all 101 together weigh about 5.
