Vanilla Foods Expanded fills ZA-Z's kitchens with food in the game's own style: pizzas, burritos, yogurt, ice cream, sodas, jams and pickles to loot, and whole crafts to learn, from aging your own cheddar to brewing beer and keeping a sourdough starter alive. Loot rates stay as they were; there is simply more variety in each find.
#What it adds
- Food to find: nearly 2,000 named items: canned and jarred goods, frozen food, cereals, snacks, candy, spices and sauces, sodas, sports drinks, iced teas and juices.
- Cooking: pasta (macaroni, penne, fettuccine, gnocchi, lasagna), four kinds of rice, chili and curry in a pot, pizzas, burritos, baking from bread to cookies, and a toaster to use.
- Dairy and cheese: cheese starters for brie, camembert, feta, cheddar, mozzarella, swiss, blue and parmesan, plus yogurt, buttermilk and cream cheese.
- Fermenting: homemade beer, wine and vinegar, a yeast starter and a sourdough starter.
- Recipe magazines: Meemaw's Cooking, Great Kentucky Bake-Off, Baker's Delight, Dairyman's Digest, So Cheesy, Homestead Fermenter and more, plus two cookbooks.

Aging cheese improves it: a longer-aged wheel lifts your mood more.
#Where do I find it on ZA-Z?
Kitchens, fridges, freezers, bakeries, restaurants, grocery and gas station shelves: wherever the game keeps food. The magazines sit in libraries, bookstores, magazine racks, post offices and crates. Only containers first rolled after 26 September 2026 hold the new food, so explore fresh ground; the loot respawn (every 720 in-game hours, about 90 real hours) also restocks looted town containers.
#Tips
- Feed a sourdough starter flour and water every day, or it dies in about a day. A yeast starter wants sugar and water every second day.
- A dead yeast starter is not wasted: it makes homemade vinegar.
- A 180-day parmesan is 540 real hours of patience. Start one early and store it somewhere safe, like a claimed safehouse.
